Avoid this company!!

I own a small hotel and a man called me asking about pet-friendly rooms. When I started asking about the type and weight of the pet he had to admit he's not the customer, but it took me asking 3 times before he would tell me his name was "John" from Reservation Counter. I told him we don't accept pets in the rooms he wanted to book but he got really pushy and tried to force me into okaying this reservation! The customer would have thought everything was arranged and then been turned away when they arrived, but he didn't care. When I held firm he got extremely rude and snotty, I don't care if I never receive a reservation from this company!

Reservation Counter is a BOGUS! SCAM! IDIOTS

Like many others thought i was going to the Hyatt Hotel website was given the phone number for reservations called and it took 42 minutes to book 3 rooms for 2 nights each. I have now tried to call back and change one of the reservations and that is when I found out that I had not talked to the Hotel Call Center but to Reservation Counter. After being on hold for 14 minutes and then again for 20 minutes, I told the agent to stop and not do anything leave the reservations as they were booked. I called the hotel direct and they said they have the reservations and they are still good and unchanged so I Hope that I have my 3 rooms for this weekend. I will never use this Horrible Company again for anything travel related, life is too damn short.

Scam company that should be shut down

First, they pretended to be from the hotel chain I was calling. Then they quoted one price but charged another. Then they made up taxes that didn't exist. Then they said the property allowed dogs (but didn't charge the surcharge or pass it on to the hotel so I had to pay that in addition). So... what was quoted as $82 became $122 (which I assumed included the dog fee and all other taxes plus an $8 booking fee)(not having booked a room in Delaware before, I had no idea what the taxes would be and only found out later how low they actually were) but then became $137 when I was at the property. In short... I will never ever book through them again and will be more careful about telephone bookings going forward.

Misled customer

I thought I was booking with Hilton Garden Inn . Instead it was a third party merchant.

I asked for AARP, Senior, Or Hilton rewards discount, and was told it would be taken care of when I got to the hotel. A one night stay in Florence S.C cost me $198.00. My receipt for the night fro Hilton said 104.00, but my credit card had a total of $198.

$170 was from CCI Hotel Rescounter. 14.99 was a hotel service fee.

And 12.52 was from Hilton Garden Inn, Florence S.C. I was told by CCI Hotel Rescounter that the receipt shouldn’t have been given to me with this amount from Hilton Garden Inn. I think people should be told that its a third party merchant and that the cost could be higher.

I dont know what to do. I’ve reached out to CCI Hotel Recounter and also to Hilton Garden Inn.

They both have said there is nothing they can do. This is not the first time I’ve booked with Hilton Garden Inn also.

Need advice. I have not paid my credit card yet for this amount!!

Alright. Apologize for my tirade.

BUT no one did contact me to tell me yea or nay. I did not know that you refunded my money until I received my Visa statement. I thank you very much for doing so. Could have averted my negative statement by just sending me it email stating that my request was being taken care of one way or the other.

I did realize that it said "nonrefundable" so if you would have said no, I would have been a upset, but would have understood. It was just that I felt I was being pulled around.

Again I do thank you for refunding my money, I know you didn't have to. Yes I will recommend you service.

Original review May 14, 2018
I had made a reservation for two nights in Aberdeen SD, and I understand it was "nonrefundable". My sister was transferred to Sioux Falls SD for emergency surgery (kidney failure). Tried talking to someone to see if I could get a refund, or at least a partial as this was totally unexpected. Talked to someone for approximately 1/2 hr. Said they would get back to me in 3-4 hours and that the issue would be resolved in 3-4 days. NO ONE EVER GOT BACK TO ME TO EVEN TELL ME THEY WERE UNABLE TO DO IT!! The very least they could have done is email me as they said they would. Totally unacceptable.

Pose as direct hotel. Worst experience ever.

They booked the wrong room type and their AmEx card was declined so I had to pay the Hotel direct at a much higher rate. After hours of sorting it out they still wanted to charge a $4.99 reservation fee. I will never be fooled again. Customer service reps have little authority to do anything except put you on hold and report back with vague answers from so called supervisors. The hotel manager explained that this is a common practice and theme with reservation counter. It's a game of blame between the two and the customer ultimately looses. make sure when you book a room you are using the hotel direct to ensure you are getting what you are expecting.

Reservation Booking Fee

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

On 2/26/18, I call an 888 number that I thought was a direct number to the hotel I wanted to book for a short stay. It turns out it was Reservation Counter.

The agent David was pleasant but clearly not knowledgeable in booking reservations and needed to constantly put me on hold to "check rooms", check early check-in ability", etc.. Long story short I became suspicious, and asked if he was an employee at the hotel at which time he responded no, but was an official reservation company that the hotel uses. I skeptically proceeded with the reservation booked it with my credit card, left the airport and proceeded to the hotel. When I arrived at the hotel they had no knowledge of my booking, and not valid reservation code (reservation counter.com sent me a code that had nothing to do with the hotel).

Luckily the hotel was extremely accommodating and leveraged the information I was sent to contact reservation counter to clarify my reservation. Reservation counter.com then told the hotel representative that I prepaid the reservation (unknown to me). The hotel forced reservationcounter.com to provide all the details they received regarding my reservation including proof of prepayment. Reservationcounter.com had to give the information, or I probably would have lost the $294 pre-payment.

It was also discovered that in conjunction with the hotel pre-payment charge reservationcounter.com also charged me a $12.99 reservation booking fee. The hotel could not assist me with getting the booking fee back, but they did honor the pre-payment on a non-reservation and I got an amazing room as the hotel's effort to compensate me for the crookery of reservationcounter.com.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

THESE GUYS ARE SCAMMERS. DOUBLE CHECK TO ENSURE YOU ARE NOT TALKING TO ANYONE OTHER THAN THE HOTEL DIRECTLY, OR A LEGITIMATE BOOKING COMPANY.

Ripped off for $161.32

I put in a reservation for 2 rooms at the Motel 6 in Lubbock, TX. Reservation Counter charged me $161.32. Ok fine we didn't have to HOPE to find a room on a Friday night after driving from Denver. We get to the Motel 6 and there isn't a reservation but we were able to get 2 rooms that we had to pay for out of pocket. On Monday after we got home I called reservation counter for a refund the guy I spoke to "Patrick" called the Motel 6 and confirmed there hadn't ben a reservation and that I paid out of pocket. He told me I'd have my refund in 2 days. Well now I called to find out were my refund is it's been over a week and "Mauricio" tells me it'll be 10 to 15 days before they can "finish their investigation" into the matter! They didn't have a problem taking my money when I hit send they shouldn't have a problem returning my money RIGHT NOW.

Tonight I was on Comfort Inn's site. I hit book reservation for Mansfield TX for the next day.

When my reservation confirmation came thru to my email, it was a booking for Mansfield LA. I called the # immediately. Reservation refused to refund my credit card. They said sorry not in 24 hr period.

This site is a rip off. I was redirected via the internet thru expedia. So you will pay for their bugs in the software. This is for reservation counter .

com. When I called the support personnel barely spoke English. They will give you the run around because they know they can screw you if the reservation is under the 24 hr period. It's no like I booked this 3 months ago and had buyers remorse.

Buyer beware. Go somewhere else instead of these folks

Reservation Booking Fee; Overcharged; Company is a SCAM

I too believed that I was speaking directly to the hotel and not a third party. I specifically called rather than book on line because my employer has negotiated a preferred rate with the hotel. When I requested the rate, the agent said that she needed to confirm the rate with IT and she put me on hold. I believe this was just a ploy. There was no checking with anyone regarding the rate. The agent came back and told me the rooms at that rate were not available and only a few rooms remained. I asked if there was another number I should call to confirm the preferred rate and she told me that I was speaking to centralized reservation. Because there was an impending snow storm, I booked the room. However, when I got to the hotel and aired my frustration the desk clerk told me that there was a preferred rate with my Company and the hotel would have honored it but because the room had been booked through a third party and prepaid, there was nothing that could be done to change it. I wrote to Reservation Counter and represented that I had been misled and lied to. The Company wrote me back telling me that I had misunderstood their misrepresentations and they would make no concessions. In the end I was grossly overcharged for the room and there was a booking fee. I still am not sure how I ended up with a third party when I had thought I was calling the hotel directly. This in and of itself is deceptive. I would recommend staying away from this Company at all costs.

They Gathered our Res Info, and act like us...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Called my reservations office several times, tracked how we responded to various questions, found our room info, etc... Later we find out they are acting like us. We called them and they answered the phone just like we do, and give the same description of our rooms. They used the same responses clearly indicating that they called us to track our replies, understand our packages, etc... Now we are getting angry costumers claiming they called us before offering different rates, or that groups don't exist, due to the fact that they don't have access to our on site resources.

They are a scam

DO NOT USE RESERVATIONCOUNTER.COM EVER!!!! Their site made it appear as if I was booking through Holiday Inn but it wasn't.

i SEE OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE SAME THING. This company is in Guatemala and after 2 hours (on hold most of the time) I was told my credit card was going to be credited but it wasn't. You can't submit an email and you can't get through on the phone. They are supposedly a price line affiliate and someone internally from Priceline patched me through.

Priceline should investigate the people they choose to do business with. I am pissed at this situation.

PASS THE WORD ON INTERNET! This is probably related to some kind of phone scam too keeping you on hold that long BUT WHO KNOWS.

Can't even get the room I paid for?

I cancelled a reservation three weeks before my arrival. It was my mistake that I hit the cancel button without fully reading the no refunds policy but it didn't occur to me because there was no confirmation and no sign-in or anything. Anyone could have gone to that page and hit one button to cancel on my behalf. I had paid for my entire trip up-front. I called immediately and even though it had only been a few minutes since my cancellation, they refused to un-cancel it. I'm now out $400. And they of course give the "it's how the system works" answer for everything. There is no way their developers are incapable of figuring out how to deal with this. I think it's deliberately designed to screw people over. They could at least put a notification warning when you click the cancel button.

I went to Choice Hotels website to book a room and was hijacked by Reservation Center. Didn’t realize it til after I pushed the book button. Called immediately to cancel and they won’t let me. They claim Comfort Inn won’t allow it. I will no longer use either company.
